The cast of "Old Maid and the Thief"

The comic opera ‘The Old Maid and the Thief” will be performed July 30 and Aug. 1 at the Charlene Larsen Center for the Performing Arts in Astoria.

The work by Italian playwright Gian Carlo Menotti will be performed in English by Cascadia Chamber Opera and feature local artists Ann Bronson, ChrisLynn Taylor, Bereniece Jones-Centeno, Elias Hesse, and Paul Brady.

Greg Hopper-Moore is director and Vincent Centeno is conductor.

The opera provides a funny take on mistaken identity, gossipy neighbors, being lovesick, and hapless victims. Performances are at 7 p.m. Friday, July 30, and 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, at the PAC, 588 16th St., Astoria.
